The growth in subscriber levels was cornered by the resellers (MVNO) who increased their customer numbers by 9.7 percent from 459,159 in December 2010 to 503, 911 by June.
Newly released statistical data shows that in the telecommunication landscape of the Sultanate, the resellers (MVNO) of mobile phone services and mobile broadband registered the maximum growth of 9.7 per cent and 19 per cent respectively during January-June 2011 from December 2010.

MVNOs operating in Oman had over 500,000 subscribers in June, the Muscat Daily reported online. Monthly figures from the Ministry of National Economy showed that MVNOs, including FRiENDi, Renna, Halafoni and Samatel, had 503,911 customers at the end of June.
Half a dozen companies are have been granted licenses to operate mobile virtual networks. The government owns 70 percent of Omantel.
