The Brazilian PostOffice (Correios) is planning to sign up between 3 million and 5 million users within three years to its mobile virtual network operator (MVNO).
In an interview with Teletimes, the vice president of technology and infrastructure, Antonio Luiz Fuschino, confirmed the potential of the MVNO, which will come into operation in the third quarter of 2014 and could even change the scenario of the mobile phone market.
The Brazilian Post Office (Correios) has a presence in all municipalities, and can help in selling simcards in places where there is no coverage but outlets.
Since April 2011, the Post Office have, through an interim measure, been authorizated to work in new business models, which should generate additional revenue for the company.
