Italian MVNO, Bladna Mobile has released a statement on its Facebook Page stating that it will cease to operates its Service
“Dear Customer, Please note that Bladna Mobile will close its business in Italy by 1 May 2013. Bladna Mobile was the first Arabic mobile operator in Italy, and we are proud to served the Egyptian community living in Italy for a period of 1 year. We thank all our customers and that is why we will announce a special offer, to our customers to port their Numbers to Vodafone Italy from March 2013 “
Bladna Mobile, is owned by Saudi Mobile Services, and they launched its service in Italy in December, 2011. The MVNO has links to its sister company Vodafone Egypt, which is said to wholly-own Saudi Mobile Services. Bladna reportedly offered preferential call tariffs to Egypt, Morocco and a number of other unspecified North African nations with a strong immigrant population in Italy.
Curiously, this is the seventh failed Italian MVNO to close its business over the last few months/year.
Bladna Mobile
New Italian MVNO focused on the North African community living in the country. Effortel will manage all technical aspects of the MVNO, while Bladna is a subsidiary of Vodafone Egypt and it will be hosted by a local network in Italy. Bladna means ‘Homeland’ in Arabic, will cater for the growing North African community in Italy comprised mainly of Egyptian, Moroccan and North African nationals.
