Sipgate, a German VoIP provider who also offers his prepaid services in Austria and the UK is preparing the launch as full MVNO unter the brand of “Sipgate SIM” on the German E-Plus network through its subsidiary Vintage Wireless. The company is inviting interested customers to register for a trial phase (http://www.sipgate.de/one) which is expected to start imminently. For a monthly fee of € 5 testers will receive a SIM card with 60 minutes of free outbound airtime and, most notably, a geographic number assigned besides a mobile number from the 01579-numbering range which sipgate has exclusively leased from E-Plus. Inbound calls are expected to remain free of charge for both numbers. Additional geographic numbers can be added for EUR 5 per month, the same price additional SIM cards can be ordered for the same account. A data pack of 1GB will also cost EUR 5 per month while domestic calls and text messages will be priced with EUR 0.09 per minute or message.

Indicated by the sketch on the product website and in continuation of its existing cloud-based PBX product called “sipgate team” Sipgate is believed to plan a highly converged VoIP and mobile service with customizable routing for the assigned mobile and geographic numbers among one or more SIM cards and SIP accounts.

During another trial of a virtual service named “sipgate one” in 2011 sipgate issued mobile numbers that allowed inbound calls to be forwarded free of charge to any other German number as well as to Skype accounts. Calls would be signalled simultaneously on all defined call destinations. It also enabled reception of SMS and transcribed voice mail, both delivered by eMail. The trial, however, came to a sudden end when German MVNO Telogic who had provided mobile numbers declared insolvency in August 2012. It is expected sipgate SIM to inherit features of the earlier trial.”
