The Vedomosti newspaper has reported that Vimpelcom (Beeline), a Russian mobile operator has negotiated a contract with mobile broadband operator Scartel (Yota) for accessing Yota’s 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO).
MegaFon, a rival cellular company offers commercial LTE MVNO services over the same Yota network, and it has been reported that they too have forged an MVNO agreement with the other of the ‘big three’ Russian mobile operators, MTS. In September, CommsUpdate reported that Vimpelcom had received approval for the LTE MVNO tie-up with Yota, which this week also announced that it will be launching its own-brand LTE smartphone.
