Deutsche Telekom counts 77 million New Year’s SMS

Deutsche Telekom said that 77 million SMS were sent in the Telekom network on New Year’s Day, eleven percent more than in 2010, according to onliinekosten.de citing the company’s Facebook page.Vodafone said that its customers sent 40 mil lion SMS. E-Plus and Telefonica Deutschland could not provide numbers on their SMS traffic. Before New Year’s German ICT industry group Bitkom had estimated a total of 310 million SMS to be sent on the German mobile networks.
