Dutch supermarket chain Dirk van den Broek has launched its own MVNO under the name Dirk Mobiel. Customers will from next week be able to buy a starter kit for € 9.95 , which includes € 10 worth of call credit. Dirk Mobile is advertising itself as “the cheapest prepaid calling rates in the country.”
Customers can make national calls at € 0.12 per minute, with on-net calls among Dirk, Bas, and Digros Mobile customers at € 0.05 per minute while sending an SMS costs € 0.02.
The supermarket chain said it will also launch “very attractive rates for international calls.” Dirk Mobiel will also offers emergency option Nood, allowing customers to set up two Dutch numbers –fixed or mobile- that they can call, even when their credit runs out.
Sim-cards can be upgraded to € 10 or € 20, but customers also have the option of automatically upgrading by a certain amount every month. Those wishing to switch to Dirk, Bas or Digros Mobiel can keep their existing phone number.
All customers can also check online over their status, credit, or call behaviour.
Dirk Mobiel utilises MVNE services of Teleena, which also provides services to supermarket chain Deka Markt.
Some innovative services are the possibilities to topup via SMS or via an automatic monthly direct debit and the ‘emergency credit’ option. General Manager Aart van Haren says “This means that you can always call or text two preset Dutch mobile of fixed numbers, even when out of credit!”.
Teleena’s CEO Timo Smit reacts “We are proud to welcome Dirk Bas Digros as our MVNO customer. This brand shows that it is possible to combine low cost calling and texting with innovative services and thus differentiate itself from its competitors”.
