As we return from Independence Day weekend, here at Macheen we continue to celebrate a new type of American independence: freedom from long-term commitments for mobile broadband Internet access. Dell NetReady mobile broadband service, powered by Macheen, is now available with select Dell notebooks in the U.S. Like the German Dell NetReady service announced in February, the U.S. service is fully integrated into the notebooks and “hot” out of the box. That means as soon as the notebook is booted up, it can connect to the Internet, without a wired network or a wireless hotspot. Signing up to use the service is quick and easy. Best of all, there are no hassles, service contracts, or long-term commitments.
Dell is changing the game for connected devices, not only by eliminating long-term commitments, but also by offering connectivity sessions priced at less than a buck! For only 99¢, Dell NetReady users can get 15 minutes of mobile broadband Internet access—plenty of time for most people to sync their email before or after a long flight, or in between meetings. There are plenty of other economical options, including sessions priced by the hour, day or month.
In short, Dell’s NetReady service—and its economical session-based pricing—is very user friendly. It’s no surprise that Dell, the company that revolutionized the PC market by building products customized to meet its customers’ needs, is now doing the same thing in mobile broadband.
