When Polish MVNO, tuBiedronka was introduced in the Polish market, everyone was rather skeptical. In the end, however it was branded and bundled as a VAS for Biedronka discount stores with a different focus, which wasnt on focusing on telecommunications as its USP. Apparently, however, tuBiedronka are not doing so bad.
The MVNO owned by Discount Stores, Biedronka provides its services on the basis of a Brand Reseller (BR) agreement with Polskiej Telefonii Cyfrowej (ERA Mobile) infrastructure. In fact, while formally still another Era brand, it is however distributed throughout the groups Polish discount stores.
Service proposition and current offer’s are quite poor, even as a virtual operator. They have the ability to provide national voice call – and SMS only and can be purchased or recharged throughout the chain.
However, despite objectively critisim on the offer presented by tuBiedronka, according to an unofficial information gained by the “Republic” – the service provider now has roughly 70 thousand Active customers. It is worth noting that the “active ” claim as opposed to “dead” SIMS must be mentioned as some operators have handed out Free SIM Cards during promotion, but have never activated, which often leads to an artificially inflated statistics.
CEO, Sam Jeronimo Martins in Poland acknowledges that the tuBiedronka‘s offer is of particular importance. – “This is our service, one of the many facilities available in stores and It is about attracting and retaining customers for “stickiness”, rather than a strategic business proposition.”
