Telecommunications companies belonging to the listed company MNI SA, announced today that at the end of 2010 they have over 67.8 thousand active SIM cards, establishing MNI SA as the second largest Polish MVNO Company.
According to estimates by PMR Publications at the end of the first half of 2010, Virtual Operators (MVNO) had a total of 525 thousand active users which means that MNI’s results constitutes a 13% market stake in Poland. This means that today, MNI is the second largest MVNO operator, just after the network wRodzinie.
MNI SA (MNI:Warsaw) is an independent telecommunication service operator in Poland. Its offering includes a range of services for mobile telecommunication: short message services (SMS), multimedia message service (MMS), wireless application protocol (WAP), voice mailing and international voice services, data transmission via global system for mobile communications (GSM) and third-generation (3G) mobile phone technology, as well as content products for mobile services, Web portals and Internet protocol (IP) television, virtual private networks, and call center services in the area of the old Lomza province. The Company is also active in the mobile marketing segment, operating a contact center and offering such services as m-commerce, call center and loyalty programs. The Company has a number of wholly owned subsidiaries, including MNI Telecom SA, Telestar Sp. z o.o., Dlugie Rozmowy SA and Euro Digital Corporation LTD, among others.
Listed on the Stock Exchange in Warsaw MNI fund directly or indirectly more than a dozen telecommunications companies, operators in the field of advanced value-added services and wireless marketing and media and tourism. Currently, the telecommunications divisions MNI Telecom and Katowice company Hyperion are in the process of a merger. With this consolidation, based on Hyperion services, a nationwide provider of broadband Internet, voice and television services, the fund continues to build a strong entity which will offer a suite of services.
From dynamic development of the mobile telecommunications the fund has established its own technological platform MNI MVNE (Mobile Virtual Network Enabler), which enables the provision of MVNO services for other companies, both within the group (eg MNI Telecom) and for external entities (TOYA, Mediatel , Crowley Data Poland). Acquisitions and organic growth, including the introduction of new brands and services to customers for the group of companies are pre-indictors of growth in 2010 with 67.8 thousand active SIM cards.
New brands and customers
One of the new MVNOs, which was introduced in 2010 was “Hyperfonia“, using Orange’s backbone was launched in August, a cooperation between u.br with the MNI Telecom, forHyperion to sell its Internet access services and now mobility services. – The new offer was met with great interest, although MNI did not conduct an active advertising or promotion campaign, still managed to acquire more than two thousand new subscribers for mobile telephony services “Hyperfonia” – says Marek Południkiewicz, president of Hyperion, and MNI Telecom.
Additional planned roll-out for new branded MVNO services will continue in 2011, including a branded SIM service for Stream Communications, the seventh largest cable TV operator in Poland, subsidiary of MNI with nearly 270 thousand end customers. By the end of 2013, Stream has set a target of at least 380 thousand customers. – “Based on this, the number of active SIM cards will continue to grow rapidly. By bundling a new mobile telephony services is an important element in our policy of maintaining existing and acquiring new customers. Soon, 90 thousand Stream Communications customers will be offered the mobile telephone service under the brand “Streamfonia” and in December 2010, MNI has agreed with Łódź based company TOYA, the fifth largest cable television operator in Poland, to provide its 180 thousand subscribers with a mobile solution and mobile Internet Access service under the brand “TOYAmobilna“.
