A new Dutch MVNO has launched on KPN’s network called Citytel Prepaid. With Citytel, customers can purchase large amounts of calling credit in order to obtain a free prepaid phone. The least expensive phone can be secured with an upgrade of € 50 and the most expensive with an upgrade of € 250. Call minutes can also be purchased separately, without a phone in return. Customers then get double credit, getting € 10 worth of call minutes for € 5, for example. Call rates are at € 0.35 per minute, with a connection fee at € 0.25 cents, and SMSs are priced at EUR 0.16. Calls are rounded to the minute. Internet costs € 3 per MB. Call minutes are valid indefinitely provided customers upgrade at least once every twelve months. Citytel Prepaid is an initiative of CG (Creative Group). Citytel Sim cards are available only online. Customers can also order a new phone, including a Citytel Sim card via the Citytel.nl site. The new MVNO said it has a phone for every budget and that it will ship the Citytel Starter package for free. Prepaid Citytel also said it will launch an important on- and off-line campaign in the coming months, in order to introduce itself to the Dutch public.
