A new report from the German institute for service quality (Disq) examines whether price-aggressive discounters can really compete in the German mobile market against premium providers with an extensive product and service portfolio. The German mobile market is saturated and the battle for market share will be won with good service. The study shows that mobile discounters are not only providing cheap prices but also good service, holding 4 of the first 5 places in the test. O2 was the only major network operator to break the dominance of the discounters, while mobile service providers came bottom. Blau.de was named Best Mobile Provider’ for the second year in a row, achieving the best results for both pricing and service. Simyo was in 2nd place, followed by Simply in 3rd place. Customer service saw a significant decline on last year, with the largest fall for handling customer e-mails. Almost 1 in 4 mobile companies failed to respond to half of e-mail enquiries within a week.
